The message should be clear: Prevention of child abuse and neglect is everyone's responsibility. When you buy a Children's Trust Fund specialty license plate, approximately 92% of the purchase price goes directly to fund community-based prevention programs in Alabama. These tags are available at every County Probate office and are tax-deductible. They can be personalized with any combination of six letters or numerals at no additional charge. Income Tax Check-Off: This year consider donating all or part of your State of Alabama tax refund to the Child Abuse Trust Fund. Over 85% of Children's Trust Fund dollars go directly to fund programs that protect our children from abuse and neglect. This tax-deductible donation can be done by simply attaching Schedule DC to your state return and indicating the "Child Abuse Trust Fund" (1d) as your preference.

Commemorate your little one's special day with the gift of a Keepsake Birth Certificate. Choose from three designs at a minimal cost of $45. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Children's Trust Fund of Alabama.

Volunteer Opportunities

Whatever your talent or skill, you can benefit children and families in your community. Why volunteer? Quite simply, because we need you. And more importantly, the children and families in your community need you.

You can provide volunteer leadership and strategic direction for the agency. From a few hours a month to a few hours a day, there are many ways to help! CAPSrelies on the generous gifts of time and talent from individuals like you, because so many children and families rely on us.

Indirect service volunteers:
April is designated as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. CAPS is a leader in Tuscaloosa to promote awareness and education through the Blue Ribbon Campaign. Volunteers are needed to assist with our annual Kids Day in the Park, Pinwheel Gardens and other activities during this month. Volunteers can display blue ribbons on trees and other public locations, or help distribute child abuse prevention literature at your place of employment, neighborhood, schools or church.

Volunteers can host a CAPS Birthday Club Party. Simply get your friends and family to make a donation to CAPS in your honor instead of purchasing a gift.

Volunteers are needed to provide clerical assistance. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and comply with agency criminal background check requirements and stated belief in the agency's mission. Clerical assistance includes creating facilitator packets, use of copy machine, collating and organizing new client intake packets and parent folders, etc.

Donation of Goods

Some people prefer to give something more tangible than cash. We do need to raise a certain amount of money to support our existing programs. But providing items that we normally purchase will help us cut costs, thereby increasing funds available for other areas. This is an especially effective way to involve groups - (churches, professional groups, clubs, school groups, etc) in gift giving.

Items our staff have requested:

  • Copy paper
  • Dry Erase Markers
  • DVDs Child movies
  • File folders
  • Individually packaged healthy snacks

  • School supplies: notebooks, crayons, markers, paper
